Cellular Automata

A Cellular Automaton is a cell within a grid of a rule based system. Each cell is 'Alive' or 'Dead' based on the states of neighbouring cells and a set of rules. Complex emergent behaviours have been shown to emerge from relatively simple rules, with Conway's' Game of Life being the most well known example of Cellular Automaton.Use this simulator to explore how different survival rules for two dimensional cellular automaton create different emergent behaviours and patters, or perhaps explore how small changes in a stable simulation can cause utter chaos!Key Features:*3 x 3 and 5 x 5 Neighbourhoods*Complete control over the survival rules used*Ability to zoom in and out*Control over the flow of time between simulation steps*Ability to interact with individual automaton and change states

* Added "Neighbour only" neighbourhoods
* Added the ability to switch between a single ruleset for deciding if a cell is alive or not, and a dual rule set, one for when the cell is dead, and another for when the cell is alive!
